i bought the lens from ebay; it was $50 cheaper than if i had bought it in a shop! gotta love a bargain.

i am now at the end of my 3 week summer holidays  :(    all my life i've had 7 weeks to enjoy the sunshine, beaches and icy poles, so i was a bit shocked when i learnt i only had 3 weeks! oh, the joys of having a job. 

slowly i have been moving things out of my room and into my caravan. I HAVE SO MUCH STUFF. and i'm not proud of it! mainly craft stuff, and things i can't part with. i'm badly sentimental with material things, tsk tsk. bad hannah. 

i've just went to a shop (apparently it's american so you mighta heard of it) called 'masters'. awesome place. they had cherry tomato plants, 2 for $1!! eeek! so cheap. bought 6.  

and- i really love indoor plants, and when i saw one with leaves that were 2 of my fave colours- green and purple- i just had to. had to bring it home. 

so beautiful.

that is me and my life at the moment.

I was in our shed today, randomly looking through a box of old stuff that we have from my Dad's family. I found these two leather cases...

They looked deliciously suspicious so I eagerly opened them up to reveal...

I was soooooo thrilled!!!!! Because I have always wanted an old camera...

I don't know anything about them- does someone else?? Please let me know any info if you do!

When Daylight Is No Longer

{anticipating} Six months off, doing all the things I've had planned. Photography galore, learning more about my camera, learning more about the blogging world, helping children who have disabilities ride horses, help kids at school learn, teach my own two kids (my sisters, Eve and Janae)(I'm not a mother yet!!)/help my mum with homeschooling, hopefully sell some photos, possibly get a job (part-time, no WAY am I having a full-time job), and get to know all the bloggers out there.

Multi Cultural Arts Event in Fitzroy

So on the weekend I went to this sort-of festival with my friend Laura. In between dancing our hearts out in the mosh pit to awesome, Senegalese rhythms, attending an Ethiopian dance workshop, and making cute henna tattoos on each other, I got my camera out. It was my first official time going out with my fancy camera in it's big bag, and walking there I was just in this cloud of confidence/up-myself-ness. It was a bit of a drag carrying around 2 'handbags', and I was so worried each time I put it down to dance, that it would get stolen or something bad like that. Any suggestions for anything??

But I thought I would share these happy snaps with you... 

I tried so hard not to take images with people's faces in them, part of the whole don't-take-pictures-of-people-without-their-permission thing, but I still really loved this photo, so I blacked out their eyes  :p

My main 'theme was snippets of colour'...

Last Monday Night In A Crowded Room...

“And the winner in the Youth Photography Competition 15-18 year old category is…”

My heart was pumping, like the nine other finalist's hearts probably were. There was tension like thick syrup in the air. I told myself to relax, it probably wasn’t gonna be me. So I leant back, got cozy, and prepared to clap for someone else. I expected to hear a name that I had never heard of before, especially because I hadn’t even made the runner-up! Not that I really wanted that prize, a $150 gift voucher to JB Hi-Fi.

Deep down in my heart place, I knew I still had a chance, but I made myself be practical, to try to avoid potential disappointment.

When they said my name, it sounded so creamy and smooth, rolling off the women’s tongue with perfect articulation. In my mind, which is riddled with grapheme synesthesia, it was so beautifully green, like it should be, with tinges of brown and orange for my last name.

I sat there in shock, my mouth resembling that of a goldfish mouth, and my dad squeezed me in a hug, so proud. My shaky hands were up on my cheeks in disbelief and surprisement, before I was able to detach myself from the table I was perched upon.

I went up there and grabbed the massive box which they held out to me. It sported an image that was beautiful to my eyes. The picture represented a life to come, a time of learning and much creative expression. My brand new digital Canon SLR camera, a big black one.

It’s amazing, because I took that winning shot on a little point and shoot camera; I knew that a couple of the other finalists had bigger cameras than that. My camera broke a few weeks ago. God is amazing. He knew that camera was for me. He knew what my biggest dream was.
